You can just feel it: the last few weeks have been full of sunshine, warmth and lightness – and that’s exactly the mood I wanted to capture in my photos. Today I have a very special outdoor shoot with Yuan a dear colleague who is at home in photography herself.
Honestly? I was a little nervous. Because when another photographer stands in front of my lens, it immediately feels a bit different. You know she pays attention to things that others might not even notice – the framing, the light, the posture. But Yuan trusted me completely from the very first moment. She was open, natural and full of joy – and that’s exactly what you can see in the pictures.
🎯 Why I observe a lot during a family shoot – and intervene very little
My approach to family shoots is very clear: I’m not there to direct you – I want to show you show you as you are.
I observe a lot, give you space, occasionally give you a little direction – for example, how we turn towards the light or where we walk together. But the most important thing is: You have to feel comfortable.
Parents in particular often have the feeling that they have to “function” – but that’s not necessary. Your children are usually relaxed, curious and sometimes wild anyway – and that’s wonderful. If you allow yourselves to get involved, these genuine images will emerge that make you feel: this is us.
🌳 Favorite places in and around Vienna
I love taking photos outside. The Steinhofgründe are one of my absolute favorite places – they offer a lot of space, beautiful light and enough peace and quiet so that you don’t feel like you’re being watched. The Vienna River is also a great backdrop, especially in the early evening hours.
And then there is the castle park in Laxenburg – which is almost a little fairytale in itself: trees, water, paths, old walls. Perfect for families who love nature and variety. The only important thing is that we look for a shady, pleasant spot togetherso that the atmosphere remains relaxed and nobody is standing in the blazing sun.
✨ What is particularly important to me
For me, a shoot is not a compulsory appointment. It should be something nice – a time out together, a walk with the camera, an hour just for you. No poses, no hectic pace, no “but please laugh now”.
But closeness, genuine looks, small gestures, laughter, maybe even a serious moment. Because that’s exactly what family is. And that’s exactly what I want to capture for you.
📸 Fancy a shoot that looks like you?
Then please get in touch with me – I look forward to seeing you, your children, your dynamism, your genuine togetherness.
Together we will find the right place and the right moment. Everything else will happen by itself.
