Sometimes it doesn’t take much to create something special. No big team, no hours of posing, no perfectly staged setting. Just a camera, a few minutes – and a young dancer like Fiadhwho shines from the inside out.
Our shoot in Dublin was rather spontaneous. Scheduled at short notice, between all the hustle and bustle surrounding the World Cup. We had just 20 minutes – but what came out of it surprised even me. So much expression, so much emotion, so much power in such a short time.
Fiadh is one of those dancers who make you feel from the very first moment that there is more to her. More than just technique. More than just discipline. She brings something with her that you can’t learn. A natural presence, an inner calm – and at the same time this explosive energy in movement.
The fact that she won her very first world championship the title is incredible – and yet I’m not at all surprised. You can see it in her posture, in her look, in the way she sees herself. Without any arrogance – but with a healthy sense of pride.
For me as a photographer, this short shoot was a gift. It shows that great pictures don’t need a lot of timeif you get involved with the other person. When there is trust. When you immerse yourself in this brief moment together, when everything fits: Light, movement, feeling.
We took our photos in a quiet corner, away from all the hustle and bustle of the fair. No stage, no distractions. Just Fiadh – in her element. Whether in full motion or in still portraits, every picture tells a piece of her story. You can see the passion, the ambition, the joy of dancing. And you can sense that there is still a lot to come.
For me, Irish Dance Photography is never just about beautiful photos. It’s about showing the personality behind the success. And with Fiadh this is particularly easy – because she is so open, so clear and so genuine.
Thank you, dear Fiadh, for your trust, for your time – and for this short but special moment that I was able to share with you.
I’m already looking forward to everything that’s still to come.
